Hay Sultan with English Subtitles

“Heysultan” is a new Turkish series set to air in 2023, based on the life of Abdul Qadir Gilani. We are excited to announce that we will be providing English subtitles for this series, which will consist of 30 episodes. The trailer has already been released.

In a time when the Muslim Caliphate was in turmoil, when Muslims were divided over their religion, and when people had strayed from Islam, a child was born in the holy month of Ramadan in the year 471 Hijri. This birth took place in the house of Fatima and Abu Saleh Musa in the region of Naid on the Caspian coast of Jilan in Iran. They named him Mohiuddin Abdul Qadir. He would grow to be known as the great Pir Abdul Qadir Gilani (RA).

From birth, Abdul Qadir Gilani (RA) showed signs of his remarkable nature. Born on a night when the moon was obscured by rain, people were unsure if Ramadan had begun. However, Abdul Qadir Gilani (RA) refused to eat after Subeh Sadiq, leading everyone to realize Ramadan had started. This event, although weakly narrated, indicates his early recognition of religious observances.

As a child, Abdul Qadir Gilani (RA) was distinct from his peers. He diligently followed his mother’s instructions and was more interested in learning than in playing. His mother sent him to a Maktab where, on his first day, he recited 18 verses of the Qur’an from memory. His teacher was astonished and asked how he had learned them. Abdul Qadir Gilani (RA) explained that he had memorized them while still in his mother’s womb as she recited them.

His extraordinary intellect meant he never forgot what he read. By a young age, he had mastered various major religious texts and was a Hafiz of the Qur’an. As he grew older and became a jurist and hadith scholar, he had a dream where the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) instructed him to spread his wisdom and the invitation to Islam. Initially hesitant due to his lack of fluency in Arabic, the Prophet (peace be upon him) blessed him, allowing him to speak Arabic fluently and beautifully.

During his sermons, people were so captivated that they would remain still, unaware of birds perching on them. His truthfulness was exemplified during an encounter with robbers. Despite being young and able to lie to save his money, Abdul Qadir Gilani (RA) admitted to having forty dirhams sewn into his clothes. This honesty led the robbers to question their ways and ultimately, they accepted Islam.

Abdul Qadir Gilani (RA) was a devout servant of Allah, spending most of his life fasting, reciting the Qur’an, and performing Nafal prayers. His dedication was so intense that he never slept during his recitations, maintaining his Fajr prayers throughout his youth. His devotion and preaching reached people’s hearts, leading many to tears and repentance.

He was a revered figure in the Muslim world, known for his wisdom and piety. At the age of 90, on Monday, 11 Rabius Sani 561 Hijri, he passed away, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire. His grave is in Baghdad, Iraq.

May Allah grant him a place in Jannah and bestow upon us the right understanding and guidance through his example. Ameen!
